This was a fairly small front elevation job although it did require a lot of stone repairs and replacements. The front elevation is primarily coursed limestone but with a band of ironstone (limestone with iron deposits) across the top of the elevation. More recent cement-based repairs to the mortar had been carried out at bottom of the property whilst original lime mortar still existed in some areas higher up the elevation.
The Rake Out:
This property had suffered a fair amount of stone decay, particularly across the bottom half of the property with all issues being associated with cement-based repointing. All cement was removed and stones that were irreparable were removed and replaced with new stone.
The Repoint:
This property was repointed with a well graded sharp mix and Natural Hydraulic Lime.
